Often, the reason why a travel expedition or a holiday vacation becomes unproductive and disastrous is because no planning and preparation were made by the travelers before going on their journey. A lot of people opt to go spontaneous and go for spur of the moment pursuits with the excuse that traveling is an adventure and so you should freely wander to where destiny takes you. For some, with a lot of luck this may prove to be true but for most waiting for fate to step in and start the quest seem futile. For the latter, an unprepared vacation meant more expense, more stress and even more danger. In this case, going for the extra mile means good travel plans and preparedness to go on your journey. So how do you make sure you are ready for your trip? Check on the list below and see how you fare. * Pack right. Typically, people take a vacation to places where they have never been before, wanting to explore and discover the other regions of the world outside of their own backyards. Going to a new place means not knowing what to expect and moving around a lot to see all the famous tourists' sights and spots of that locality. This is why travel experts advise tourists to pack light. Carrying around a heavy luggage from one place to another will surely take a toll on you. You might get too tired and decide to stay and rest in your hotel instead of enjoying the attractions. More importantly, pack discreetly. Sure, you want to look good and exceptional and may want to show off to some locales, but it may not be a good idea to bring and flaunt your expensive jewelry in unfamiliar territory. Con artists and swindlers are often on the look out for tourists and out of towners who are usually easy targets to trick and scam. * Keep your valuables hidden. If you can, keep your valuables at a minimum. So out of a dozen credit and atm cards, you may only want to bring one or two. Then that leaves some jewelry, a few dollars that you can easily use whenever you need to and of course, your passport. Pickpockets are common in a number of tourist locations so you may want to distribute your valuables in various areas if you bring them with you. You may place some cash in your pockets and in your wallet. It is advisable to place valuables in the front pocket instead of the back as the latter is an easy thief target. * Be identified well. It cannot be avoided that you might lose something when you travel. Probably due to too much excitement and pleasure from the sights, you can get absentminded and leave some things unattended. It would be a good idea to keep a photocopy of your passport and other identification papers with you in case you lose your passport. This way you can easily apply for a new one with some reference. Also make sure to identify your bags and luggage with your name, your telephone number and your address. You will observe that most bags and luggage look the same. Putting tags on your stuff will make them easy for you and other people to spot and recognize. This way you can cross out the risk of con artists claiming your bags as their own. |
